What It Enables
- Direct booking attribution — See which bookings come through your website vs. OTAs. Bookings are only attributed once your GA4
begin_checkoutandpurchaseevents fire. - Website visitor tracking — Combined with GA4, track the full visitor journey
- Funnel data — Measure the path from website visit to booking, using your GA4 events
Step-by-Step: Connect Your Website
Direct Booking Website is not included on the Free plan — Free shows Upgrade Required. Weekend host and Pro host include it. Only property admins and owners can change it.
- Click Integrations in the sidebar
- Find the Direct Booking Website card (blue globe icon)
- Click the Connect button (or Manage if already connected)
- A dialog opens titled "Direct Booking Website" with the description: "Configure your direct booking website URL. This can be your PMS-hosted booking site (e.g., Guesty) or your own custom booking website."
- Enter your website URL in the Website URL field (placeholder: "https://yourbookingsite.com"). It must start with
http://orhttps://, or you'll get an "Invalid URL" message. - Click Save Website
Below the field, an info box explains: "If you switch booking platforms, updating this URL will retrigger tracking setup while preserving all historical data."
If GA4 is connected, the dialog stays open after saving and offers Now let's set up your booking events, which walks you through begin_checkout and purchase setup.
If you're updating an existing connection:
- Your current website URL is shown at the top
- The field label changes to Update Website URL
- The button reads Update Website
- A Disconnect Website button appears at the bottom (with the note: "Historical data will be preserved")
Combining with Google Analytics
For the best direct booking analytics, connect both:
- This integration tells Hostmatic which domain is your direct booking site
- Google Analytics provides visitor behavior data from that website
- Together, once your booking events fire, they attribute bookings from first click to confirmation
Blog URL Pattern
The Blog Performance card on your Dashboard — inside the Detailed Analytics section — counts pages under /blog by default. If your blog lives elsewhere, click Configure on the Blog / Content card, enter a pattern that starts with / (e.g., /articles), and click Save Pattern. Quick picks for /blog, /articles, /posts, /news, and /guides are offered. Remove Custom Pattern reverts to /blog. This card requires GA4 and a Weekend Host or Pro Host plan.
Website Scanning
During onboarding, Hostmatic scans your website to detect GA4 installation, your booking system, booking widgets, and forms.
If you skipped the scan, saving your URL here runs it for you — as long as GA4 is connected. It takes 1–2 minutes and you can start booking-event setup while it runs. If it takes longer, you'll see "This scan is taking longer than expected. You can still set up events manually." Without GA4 connected, no scan runs.
